Fall has always been my favorite time for updating the wardrobe (as it is everyone’s I think). The heat of summer is ebbing and along with the slight bite in the air comes an explosion of change everywhere you look. The vividness of the leaves always reminds me it’s time to revamp a bit.
Keeping with my goal to maintain a mostly seasonless wardrobe I kept my jewel palette and core neutrals in place. Pulling out some of the lighter summery items and brighter jewelry, I replaced them with some deeper tones and tortoiseshell. I did purchase a vegan leather tee (seriously, $5 was all I spent on clearance), sheath dress (same material– asos.com), and a couple of pairs of skinny jeans to replace those worn.
I then pulled in some heavier cardigans, some tweed, and some of my favorite neutral–leopard print. Yes, I too think leopard is a neutral. Everyone should have some in their rotation, even if it is only a little touch. I didn’t have to do much to update for the season and am well pleased at all the money I didn’t spend for a change… loving this capsule idea trial.
