Traced back to the 1500s, the “pompe” was originally for the fellas (sans heel, although they too eventually incorporated a little boost). From next to no heel to a sky high spike, the pump has since switched teams (mostly) and evolved into the classic staple it is today.
I have had black pumps on my need list for as long as I’ve had a need list. Somehow they always get passed over for the non-sensible somethings shiny. I found my patent BCBGeneration pumps (similar here) at TJMaxx while trolling for jewelry…go figure. They caught my peripheral and since I wasn’t grooving on much else I took them home.
Now, as I’m sure you know, it’s a rare thing to find a comfortable (relatively) pump with a higher heel so I wore these on carpet for quite a few hours–they passed. This being my second comfy-ish pair of heels from BCBGeneration makes me hope I’ve found another reasonably priced go-to for my repertoire.
